A driver’s license is a prerequisite for legally riding a motorbike on the road.
Many of us get harassed while doing this work or solve the work at great expense with the help of brokers. Today I will discuss with you the procedure of obtaining a license.
◾Learner Licensing:
First you need to get a learner’s license. Through BRTA’s service portal, you can do the instant work from home.

- Scan copy or photocopy of NID
- Certificate of Educational Qualification
- Medical Certificate (Attested by Registered Doctor)
- Copy of utility bill
- Your recent photo
345/- for Category-1 (Motorbike only)
518/- to be paid for Category-II (Motorbike+Light Vehicle).
The learner’s license will mention the date, time and place of the examination.
Remember, it’s a learner’s license and the police can give you a license case even if it’s displayed on the main road.
◾Test:
Take the learner original copy, motorbike to BRTA on the appointed day. There will be a written test in the morning. The questions are easy to say. If you have basic knowledge you can do everything. I have given the question from my exam for your convenience. You will also get the written test question bank on the BRTA website.
After the completion of the written, there will be an oral examination. There are usually different road signs asking. You will find all the road sign books available in the country on the BRTA website. Besides, I have given a picture of a leaflet of the sign here.
Now practical or field test. For this, use a motorbike that has a short turning radius or a straight neck in Bengal!
There will be a few pegs eight to ten feet apart. In a zigzag manner, you have to move all the way around without putting your feet on the ground.
◾Application for Smart Driving License:
If you pass the test, you can now apply for the license. First you have to pay Rs.2542/- to the designated bank or through BKash.

- Application in prescribed form
- NID photocopy/scan copy
- Side learner
- 2542/- deposit slip
- Recently taken photos
All the documents should be submitted to the concerned BRTA office and biometrics will be done. You will receive a temporary permit after the work is completed. Until you get a smart card, you can legally drive motorbikes all over the country with it. You can track license receipt via DL Checker app or text message.
